Understanding your camera settings
What is EXIF data?
EXIF (Exchangeable Image File Format) is metadata your camera writes into every JPEG. It records how the shot was taken โ aperture, shutter speed, ISO, GPS, lens, camera model and more.
The Exposure Triangle
Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO work together. Change one and you affect the others. Mastering the balance between them is the foundation of photography.
Why no data shows up?
Screenshots, social media downloads, and apps like WhatsApp strip EXIF. Always use the original file from your camera roll or SD card for the full metadata.
Focal length & crop factor
The focal length shown is the physical lens length. On crop-sensor cameras (APS-C), multiply by ~1.5ร to get the full-frame equivalent field of view.
