How it works
Median filter for grain
The Median mode replaces each pixel with the median value of its neighbours β this is specifically effective at removing salt-and-pepper grain and ISO noise without blurring edges as much as a blur filter would.
Gaussian for smooth haze
The Gaussian mode applies a weighted blur that's softer than median. Best for images with a uniform hazy noise layer β like old scanned photos or slightly foggy images.
Passes = how deep it goes
More passes means the filter runs multiple times over the image. Use 1β2 for mild noise to keep detail. Use 3β4 only for heavy grain where some softness is acceptable.
